1980s Fashion
1980s fashion lends itself to theme parties and other retro events. With simple outfits, you can easily step back in time as an 80s pop star such as Michael Jackson or Madonna, or draw inspiration from the movies of the era such as Ghostbusters or Flashdance. Yes, it's time to bring on the legwarmers and the Day-Glo bracelets, the punk hairstyles and the big shoulder pads!
In fact, you may find the fancy dress of the era easily lends itself to creative possibilities. You may wish to mashup an iconic punk rock 80s costume with an unexpected mask, Spiderman or Iron Man perhaps? Or you can search vintage stores for a completely authentic outfit and jazz it up with great accessories characteristic of the day; jelly bracelets, fishnet gloves, neon hair scrunchies, Spandex leggings, and more.
Typically each decade seems to bring with it fashion excesses that we look back in wonderment. Big hair and banana clips? Acid washed jeans? Jelly shoes? Oversized blazers with the sleeves rolled up? Jelly shoes a.k.a. jellies?
But on the other hand, decades bring us classics that we can't imagine we were ever without. How could we live without Reebok high top ("Freestyle") aerobic shoes? Or the Addidas made famous by Run-DMC?
As with all iconic eras, we find much to look back upon in 1980s Fashion.
